Science Olympiad

This page showcases some of my Science Olympiad builds.

Roller Coaster

During this event, I was to create a "roller coaster" that would keep a marble on track for a randomly assigned duration (determined on competition day) while also incorporating loops, and that could earn extra bonus points. My device consisted of various wood, metal, and 3D-printed parts.

Air Trajectory

During this event, I created a device that could launch a ball at different distances and angles using only air pressure. I accomplished this by designing an airtight chamber where a mass dropped, generating pressure that propels the ball through a pipe. The angles and heights of the drops be adjusted to modify the ball's travel distance and landing point. This device was made using a combination of wood and 3D-printed components.

Bungee Drop

The Bungee Drop event in the Science Olympiad requires teams to design a bungee system that drops a payload from a height. I had to develop an elastic system that can be dropped from different points to achieve various drop lengths at different weights. The majority of this event went into data collection and creating graphs like those on the left.

Helicopter

The Science Olympiad Helicopter Event invites students to create a small helicopter aimed at achieving the longest flight duration. Participants focus optimizing weight and rotor design to enhance flight times. I carefully crafted several helicopter designs before choosing the one I believed to be the best, which is showcased on the right.
